This can be done manually, in spreadsheets, or through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tankhapay.com\/payroll\/payroll-software\">dedicated payroll software<\/a>; the activity is the same either way, only the tooling changes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In-house payroll processing is a good idea if your workforce is small, your payment system is simple, and one individual or a group of individuals can manage it without creating a bottleneck. As soon as any of these criteria is not met anymore, there might be mistakes made, statutory deadlines missed, and a backlog created, although the process itself remains the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_Managed_Payroll\"><\/span><b>What is Managed Payroll?<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cManaged payroll\u201d refers to the fact that your organization delegates the responsibility for the execution of payroll processes to an external, expert team while maintaining control over approvals and strategy. This is an entirely different purchase compared to payroll software. With payroll software, your own team gets a faster way to do payroll. Managed payroll shifts the \u201cwho\u201d of payroll.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is important to note that this differentiation is necessary due to the fact that each solves different issues. The software solves the problem of calculation speed and consistency, while managed payroll solves the problem of process implementation and continuous monitoring of inputs and changes in regulations as well as handling the errors that cannot be avoided despite the speed of calculation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_a_Payroll_Plugin\"><\/span><b>What is a Payroll Plugin?<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A payroll plugin is a lightweight extension that adds payroll functionality inside a platform you&#8217;re already using, an HRMS, accounting software, or an ERP, rather than requiring a separate, standalone payroll system. It pulls employee and attendance data from the host platform and applies payroll calculations within that same environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Therein lies the advantage:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> no moving, no learning of any new system, and payroll processing at a place where your staff already works. And then there\u2019s the disadvantage: a plugin is limited by how much its platform supports, which generally was never payroll in the first place, so anything beyond state compliance, elaborate salaries, or multiple workforce types will reveal weaknesses. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In essence, a payroll plugin fits the payroll needs of a business that sees its payroll as simple, one that does not have to tamper with its existing setup.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Business_Considerations\"><\/span>Business Considerations<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Workload\"><\/span>Workload<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The payroll process will have all the work done internally. While there is some automation through an add-on, the control and exception handling remain within your organization. The managed payroll will have the work done externally, with your team changing roles from doing the work to approving it. With internal processing, your team does this. In the case of a plugin, they only handle what is included in the functionality of the host system.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Control\"><\/span>Control<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outsourcing execution does not mean the loss of control. What really matters is the difference between operation control and strategic oversight. While the former determines who executes the calculations and filings, the latter determines who approves the input data, controls the output, and puts his signature on it before disbursement. Integration and plugin will be determined by how well other systems are integrated. Managed payroll companies usually have integrations for most HRMS, accounting, and ERP systems on a continuous basis, thus taking off the burden from your side.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cost\"><\/span>Cost<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outsourcing isn\u2019t necessarily more cost-effective, and to think of it as such is the mistake.
